Biography
The University of Monastir(UM) is a public institute of high education. It was founded in 2004 (according to the «decret n° 2102 de l’année 2004».The UM is home to 19000 students, 2000 academic lecturers, and 1000 administrative and support staff. It offers many programs from a wide range of subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The main activities of UM are related to higher education teaching and research in many fields. It counts about 65 research structures (36 laboratory, 11 research unit, 14 common service unit for research and 4 doctoral schools) which carry out high research quality.UM includes many students preparing their PhD research in a wide range of specialties: Biomedical, Pharmaceutical, communication, IT skills, fundamental Sciences and Economics. UM is a member of international networks and associations. It is involved in a many national and international projects such as CMCU, INSERM, TEMPUS, ERASMUS MUNDUS. The UM has taken part in numerous and successful transnational partnership, this openness to the international dimension of the UM is illustrated by its Copperation policy regarding research and by its significant effort in implementation of mobility projects for students, academic staff and researchers. UM comprises 11 institutes and 5 faculties. They offer a wide range of courses. Applied Mathematics and informatics, Biotechnology and biology, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Computer, Clinical Medicine, Dentist, Pharmaceutical studies, Management and Arts.
